will a normal bank exchange a 1 oz gold bullion that is U.S. legal tender for its gold value?

it has a face value of 50$ but im having a very hard time getting rid of it for its 850$ value i have no documentation for it because it was a gift and i tried a coin collectors place and they were being dicks because im not eighteen so i want to know if i can take it to my bank and exchange it for its rough 850$ value

  1. I don't think you can, actually. Take it to a county assayer's office or something like that. If it's a $50 coin, I would think you could do better than the market value.
  2. I've sold them many times through E*Bay without any problems.
  3. No - a bank will only give you the $50 face value. You are correct that coin dealers will not deal with anyone under 18. Most dealers are very much afraid of buying stolen merchandise, which is why they will only deal with adults with proper ID. Can't you get your parents (or other relatives) to go to the coin shop with you? Technically, you need to be 18 to sell on eBay, also, but in practice, eBay doesn't verify your age.
