What is the price of gold per gram in jewelry?

I want to buy a gold ring from a pawn shop, but I don't know if is overpriced? What is the price of gold per gram?

1. Most jewelry isn't sold "by the gram" It's so for how it looks, its quality, etc.... so you're paying a premium over what the gold is actually worth
2. you can check the gold price (per oz fine gold) on the internet. But that is only scrap gold. For a better idea, I would go onto ebay and check what items actually sell for, i.e. what people are prepared to pay for something similar. Rings, I find more expensive than plain gold chains for example (same karat gold). Handmade items are usually more expensive as well, compare to simple cast pieces. Cheers
3. In India Gold prices are published daily in the news paper. the price given in newspaper is for 10 gm e.g. if it is given 13000 INR for 10 gms It would be 1300 for pure gold. But for 18k it would be around 85% of 1300. Jahanvi www.trinklink.com
